FAIR OUTREACH REFORMED MINISTRY
Howie's Fair Ministry
Amber Murphy, Howie, Loretta Murphy
In January, 2006 Howie Pleasanton, who was 13 years old at the time asked us to take him to meet with the man in charge of the Delaware State Fair. We asked him why and he said that he wanted to have a ministry at the fair. Howie has had cerebral palsy since birth and hasn't had the opportuity to do strenious, outdoor activities as much as others his age might have had. But since he was old enough to think, he has had a brilliant mind. About eight years of age he began to ask a million questions about Reformed, Biblical theology. He and the pastor have spent hundred's of hours over the last several years talking about theology. He was like a theological sponge.
While in Scotland on a mission trip, the Pastor, Adam Plenderlief asked him to preach. He preached on the Prodigal Son and the people were amazed. He continued to grow spiritual, understanding the Doctrines of Grace more and more. We continued to gve him opportunities to preach. He was not ordained, nor was he a pastor, but we felt it was good that he exercised his gift from the Lord. His handicap became a blessing because instead of becoming sports fanatic he became a Bible and theology lover. He preached at Marydel many times. He was invited to preach at a Boy's Home in West Virginia . He was invited to come preach at North Greenville University in Greenville, S. C. by one of the professors, Dr. Roe, who teaches several different subjects. Dr. Roe had Howie in all his classes, as we were busy rolling him from build to building on the campus.
Howie goes to Belize every year with his cousins Amber and Logan Murphy from our church. We have built the Lost World Jungle Lodge there on 25 acres in the Belizian jungle, 20 miles from the Caribbean Sea. It is a Christian Retreat Center, a Mission Outpost that we use for our mission ministry around the world as we attempt to spread the Biblical Gospel. He has preached numerous times in Belize at different churches and at our Lost World. Pray for him as he graduates from High School June, 2013 and enters college in the Fall to continue his education.
